R.K. Pope

Richard Pope is a writer whose fiction draws on an unusually wide acquaintance with the worlds his characters move through. A graduate of U.S. Army Ranger School, he spent years in the private sector and in government service. He built and ran professional services firms, including an executive placement practice that put him across the table from the ambitious, the desperate, and the occasionally dishonest. It was a fitting apprenticeship for a writer of crime fiction.

He has lived and worked extensively across Europe and speaks fluent German, and that continental experience runs through his work — the sense that a city keeps its secrets in more than one language. He holds a doctorate in business, along with advanced degrees in business and professional development, and a long study of how people actually speak, persuade, and conceal informs the voices on his pages.

He writes noir detective fiction — the kind where the puzzle matters, but the people matter more. He lives in Minnesota.
